This card was made for a sketch challenge that required dots and stripes. I remembered a set of Stampin' Up! (SU) speciality pattern paper that I bought back in 2010 that had lots of stripes and dots, so went back to that to see what was possible.
For the main front panel I chose a retired SU color called Rose Red that matched the pattern paper. For the circle element I found some spiral dotted paper in the same paper stack. I used a stitched circle die to cut the size circle I needed, then the next size up die to cut the Rose Red matting circle.
The flower and leaf are matching embellishments for the pattern paper (do you get the idea that I'm a craft hoarder who never throws anything away :-). I took one of two 3-petal flowers and cut the petals off to tuck under the other to create a more full and realistic felt flower.
The required wider band is the same color as the leaves, and the smaller striped band is again from the same pattern paper stack. All these pieces were designed to go together, but I think I've only used pieces of them a handful of times!
The final piece was the sentiment. Since this design could be used for lots of different occasions, I chose to temporarily tuck in the flag stamped with "I'm here for you", but it could just as easily be for a birthday or other special occasion.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "1" out of a possible "5" since the papers were already in a set, as was the embellishments. A good starter card that goes together quickly!
