I made this card for this week's Teapot Tuesday Challenge. Pat is our hostess and she has a wonderful challenge for us called, "Avast Me Hearties." Which means we are making pirate-themed cards for our recipient. I am seriously lacking in pirate-themed anything, but you never know, there may be a pirate or pirate ship hiding behind this lighthouse.
I inked up a Darice stripes embossing folder with SU Ballet Blue ink and ran it through the die cutting machine. This gave a nice rustic look to the textured stripes. The stripes remind me of pirates and the texture reminds me of the wood of a pirate ship. I know, I am stretching this a bit, but I do enjoy using my imagination.
The image is stamped, then colored with a combination of copic markers and sponging on of various inks. The birds were added to cover up some inks sponges and thankfully, that worked perfectly. The blue mat layer is cut from a scalloped rectangle die that was cut inside of a standard rectangle die so this is the negative piece (I think that is what it is called).
I let the recipient know that her husband's life touched many of us and that he will be remembered fondly. Thank you Pat for this wonderful challenge and thank you for looking today. ~Karen.

Me thinks, that ship is there, Karen, just as is that thin veil of separation from our loved ones who have gone first. Very lovely card. Those blues are very soothing.

Beautiful and peaceful card. You have to hope there aren't any pirates lurking about who will disturb this idyllic scene. I love how you used your negative die cut for the matting. It adds a really interesting touch along with the inked ef stripes. The coloring is great. And what a beautiful sentiment. Perfect for this card. I am sure she will be deeply touched and happy to receive this gem.

What a lovely serene, relaxing scene. I think lighthouses are always such a positive symbol, speaking of peace in stormy times - just perfect for the tea-party. The inking on the embossed background looks super.

This is a fantastic card Karen. I agree there is a ship around the corner and behind the lighthouse. I love how you did the striped BG and your colouring on the scene is so soft and pretty. Great sentiment and what we all need right now. Hugs dear friend. TFS. Enjoy your day

I love everything this Karen. Your lighthouse will be a welcome addition to Teri's mantle piece, what with all the pirate ships in the area. I loved reading your write-up and how your brain works hehehe.
