Pat aka casep, has us sending lots of Teapotter hugs with a pirate theme to Teri. Pat (contrapat) requested a teaparty for Teri to help cheer her up and offer some comfort and brighter days ahead. Like Al, Teri loves pirates, tie dye, Renaissance fairs and fun parties.
I have two pirate themed images - a digi pitate ship and a cute rubber stamp by La-La Land. My plan was to add a plank to the ship and have her "walking the plank".
By the time I finished colouring her she didn't look so cute anymore, so I chopped off her body and put her pirate hat in my box of hats and accessories scraps.
I got to work colouring the digi pirate ship using Prismacolour pencils Zest it pencil blend and a blending pencil. I then went through my stamps and digi's looking for something to walk the plank.
I came across this precious Sherri Baldy mermaid sitting on a rock. I quickly lopped off the rock, sat her on the boat and retrieved the pirate hat from my hat scarp box.
Everything is stuck on the background using a kids glue stick, only one side of the flags are stuck down and I kept the tie on the hat free from glue too.
The background is from my stash, I have copied the description for a previous upload in case you are interested.
To create the background, use a large sheet of polypropylene (Yupo), dribble on some India inks in a couple of shades of blue and green. Squirt on some water and take a small piece of polypropylene paper and use this as a tool to flick it in the inky puddle, smoosh and drag it around to spread the colour. Add more ink if not intense enough.
The ink doesn't actual soak into the polypropylene, it just stains it. Wipe any excess water off with a tissue or soft cloth.
Cut a piece of acetate to the exact size you want the background to be. Lay the acetate on top of the background paper, move it around until you get the exact look you are aiming for. Trace around the acetate so you know where to cut. I ended up with a dozen pieces, some look like the ocean, other pieces look like snow or sky.
This card started out 5" x 7", I doodled a border but it looked too heavy so I cut as much off as I could. I didn't attempt to take the layer off the card base, I just cut through the lot and stuck everything onto a new card base.
Thank you for looking. I hope you get a chance to join in and most of all, stay safe.

Susie, this is truly a joy to see and there are so many fabulous details to take in! I just love the mermaid in her pirate hat and the digi pirate ship is fabulous, too. I like how you haven’t glued parts of her hat and the flags, it gives the impression they are blowing in the wind. The bg is amazing and thanks for passing on how you created it. Lastly, I chuckled at the card title - would this be inspired by a certain tv commercial where a little boy says this to his Dad when his Dad comes home with a bigger boat perhaps??

Neat idea for name of pirate ship, and your mermaid is darling not sure how she could have looked ugly, so many layers and things to see---great job as usual.

Susie I loved reading your process and kept going back to take it all in. Wow so many characters and I’m glad you didn’t have your mermaid walking the plank. Love her snazzy hat and look at that boat of Al’s...love the personalisation and those sails look as though it’s sailing along quite nicely in that yummy ocean. Love it all.
TFS my mate over East. Keep well and keep creating your beauties.

Love the SS Al Baker, how perfect that you personalised the ship. Gorgeous soft background. Regular inks - hmm, I have plenty of those though some are so old that it's hard to get the lids off. You are ace at cutting and pasting - that hat didn't have to stay in the scrap box for long. Are you not worried that she might sink the ship, though, LOL. A siren of the old school...and such a sweet one.
