This is a group of cards I made practicing with some watercolor. These are inspired by Nicole Watt at Pixel Maven’s Retreat with a walkthrough on an episode of . The episode was a great time for card creation ideas with help for color and sketch challenges. It was a look at putting ideas into action.
I chose Cotton Candy, Coral Berry, and Moon Rock from Altenew’s 36 pan watercolor set. I was working on some lightweight cardstock, so I kept the water to a minimum. I just painted the stripes on mimicking the sketch. I used it as a moment to practice and get a feel for what I liked and what I didn’t. It also helped to give me an idea of what happens with water on the paper. I cut two of the panels down to leave a fourth inch border and mounted them on some cardstock and that onto a cardbase. I left one panel as cut and mounted that onto a cardbase.
The next challenge was to stamp onto some small strips to add the sentiment to the card. Much practice went into lining it up and getting a good impression. I even tried stamping on a larger page and cutting it down. Adding the strip to the card proved to be the next hurdle.
Overall, it was a great period of creation. I was able to break away, relax a bit and paint stress free. I painted five panels(sharing two more soon) before I even realized it. Afterwards, I was able to practice finishing the cards. Next step is to write something up and send it out to friends.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to take a closer look at my cards.
