I made this card for this week's Ways To Use it Challenge. Toni is our hostess and she has chosen a wonderful challenge to use purple on our cards, and even better, we can use a little or lot of purple! I have loved the color purple since I was very little so I had to play along.
I watched an older video recently where a gal made a card with this card design, but she used a butterfly from the StampinUp Beautiful Day stamp set. I love that butterfly, but do not have it, and since I still wanted to make a card using her card design, I substituted the butterfly from the StampinUp Watercolor Wings set instead.
I love stamping the layers of this butterfly and watching it all come together. Die cut the completed butterfly with the matching dies, then temporarily placed it over a white panel I just embossed with a basket weave pattern. I stamped the sentiment panel in black ink, then fussy cut it out and placed it beside the butterfly to determine where the butterfly needs to be positioned on the card. One the placement is determined, glue the butterfly body to the embossed card, then cut off the left wing that over hangs the panel. Glue the sentiment banner in place. Layer the white card over a slightly larger black panel, then layer on top of a purple card base. Someone gave me these gorgeous purple and lavender flower sequins so I do not know the brand of them, but I hoard them, and decided today was the day to use them. You cannot see it, but I did add clear wink of stella to the butterfly body and to the darkest section of the butterfly so it is quite sparkly.
Thank you Toni for such a great challenge and thank you for looking! ~Karen.

Elegant, classy, beautiful. I was looking at that embossing folder the other day thinking I should use it. The little bling accents look super in this CAS design.

Do you ever make a bad card ----- ahhhhh no! This is a very interesting embossing pattern, I have never seen it before and I think it is so pretty. I love your butterfly and the way you kept this CAS. Another one going into my fave file!!
