The challenge was to make a card inspired by a book we were reading or about to read. I've been reading "Battle Cry of Freedom" because I've been on an American Civil War kick lately. It's a tedious read, but I'm learning so much!
I didn't have a great image, so I used a horse to represent the fact that most of my ancestors who fought (on both sides) were farmers. The colors of my card represent the Blue (Yankees) and Grey (Rebels) and I think helps to keep it somber and respectful of the many, many people who died.

Your card is so wonderfully designed, Beth, with the split angled bg in blue and grey. You have coloured the horses so beautifully! Being an Aussie, I do not know a great deal about the American Civil War but your card has inspired me to do some reading about the War. Thanks for playing~

I like this. Nice layout, with the stamping on the lower rectangle. A lovely sentiment to read especially right now when so many people are voluntarily sacrificing their liberty for the greater good.
Your book sounds interesting, too. I like history books - I still want to re-read one I have all about the colonisation of Africa. But it wasn't a well-bound book, and after my original read, it's already in about three separate unintentional "volumes".

You must love history books -- I enjoy watching history on TV, this layout is very interesting and looks almost 3-D to me. Lovely horse and coloring!!

Reading your post I can imagine this must be rough to read, and the colors you've used to represent the Yankees and Rebells are respectful in the same time, I love the pretty horses!!

Love your response to your book cover. Soft and soothing and wonderful sentiment to go with the horses. (I have been wanting to watch the movie Cold Mountain again.) Love that you represented both colors of uniforms.
