Hello and TFL, First I want to say that I am posting 3 angles, because it needed that to fully show. : ) I have made quite a few Desert Gardens now, they all come out a little differently. I normally use a 4" terracotta tray for my base. As you see in this first one I posted. Desert Friendship Garden by aztk at Splitcoaststampers
However, I am posting this 'new version' because MY DH made this adorable basswood crate for me to use on this wedding gift project. Their wedding colors were dark purple and sunflower. That was my guideline for the shades I used.
I did bury a rock in the bottom of the dry flower foam for a little weight at the bottom since this wood is lightweight. I sponged ink w water splatter off of an acrylic block onto this wood, to age it. Then added the T Holtz rubons for affect.
Hot Glue the moss to the dry foam, Tombow Mono glue the cacti and succulents papers in layers. Use 10 starburst ovals on each paper 'barrel cactus', stamped barrel cactus sunbursts dies with Gorgeous grunge image in Old Olive ink. sponged with a few shades of purple ink then added little lines up each of the spikes with a purple Tombow marker. Then fold each sunburst paper in half and glue side to side to make the circle. I put small drops of glitter glue on the paper barrel cactus spikes.
I used the 3 smallest succulent petals to make the flowers on top of cacti with Crushed Curry paper and used white paper with crushed curry ink on the flowers just laying on the moss that are strung on Linen thread.
my particular technique is to use the smallest succulent die cut wrapped and glued around a Large half pearl for the center of the succulents.
Also rounded the ends on the succulent die cuts with a bone folder so they curled up a little bit. on one side the succulent is rounded down on a few and up on the rest to fit over the side of the crate.
Final dimensions 6 1/2" x 5 1/2".
I hope I have said enough, seems like plenty. there are possibly more specific details of techniques on the first Desert Garden I posted on my gallery.
HOPE YOU ENJOY looking at this fun project.
stay safe and be well, Teresa
