As some of you will know I'm not keen on fancy folds and anything other than a straight forward card but I had done this card fold some time ago (years ago) in a VSN and quite enjoyed it.
The only difference is I didn't use a sleeve as the card is stuck down and is in effect an envelope...as per the instructions.
Previously the two front panels weren't stuck down requiring a sleeve or band to keep it all together. I think both have attributes and I like both but because I wanted the bird to be the feature I went with no band.
The colours were dictated by the CAS Colour and Sketches challenge... so here we have a Bogus Budgie.
Here in Australia we have some very colourful birds not least of all our budgies, they have even been linked to swimming togs but need to be predominately red for this.
This budgie is otherwise known as the green bird of envy.
Carolyn Shore Wright who created this bird and many others that Stamp Happen turned into stamps called this image Blubird and I have used this image before but as the Bluebird of Happiness. He is not very happy here because he is running very late for this challenge and he is blaming me and justly so.
I colored the bird with markers and an aqua brush on SU shimmer white paper, then just stuck it all together, the insert is using the SU round tab punch with some fussy cut flowers from the SU DP "All My Love" and a greeting form the SU stamp set Water color Card Kit.
I will write a message for Kris on this and post it on Tuesday.
Thanks for looking and happy stamping ... remember colouring brightens the world.
Hugs Marg

Yeah, I didn't use a sleeve either - in hindsight I wish I had as I like cards that stand on their own. But I also like the neatness of the pocket style, so it's a toss-up!
Ah, I didn't know that budgie smugglers (is that the right word?) should really be red. Your muted colour challenge budgie looks great, so do the papers. Love the sequins, and the flower tab on the insert.
Yes, I always think of your birds as being bright and colourful mostly, so I was surprised when someone commented on plain pied avocets, saying you had something similar down under.

I remember doing the fold for a VSN too... I’m not into folds either but I might revisit this one. Your budgie is pretty in those colors and I don’t think he’s passing judgment on you for being a bit late to the Teaparty..ha. I’m sure Kris will enjoy getting this lovely card from Australia.

Oh, a joyful card full of pretty colors and a great design. Love the added flower. I love birds, too.

You've done a fabulous job with that criss-cross card technique! Your card is awesome!
