For today's MIX, used a quote stamp about summer and Posca pens on a round gel plate, letting the ink dry and then apply acrylic paint to pull up the ink. I had mixed results from this technique, acrylic didn't always pull up the ink very cleanly. I watched a video on Joggles. The doodling had to be very basic and childlike, since using the thicker pens worked the best.
My best childhood memories were at Pine Lake, about 40 miles west of Green Bay. Lazy days swimming, sunning on the pier, catching fish, hiking over to the peninsula, catching insects and butterflies, reading and crafts on rainy days, pontoon rides, having popcorn for supper, picking wild blueberries, scavenging at the dump, going to cheese factories, walking to the little store a mile away for a Popsicle. My only regret is that I did not tell my mother how much I appreciated her when we were up there. Our Dad would only be there on weekends. On Friday nights, we would take paper plates or maybe some shelf paper, make 'welcome' signs and tack them on the trees so he'd see them as he drove in. Both of my parents made it possible for us to have idyllic summers.

How priceless to have those idyllic memories! When I saw this in the thumbnail, I immediately thought summer nights, fireworks, the county fair, a Ferris wheel. The combination of whimsy and those lovely buttflies is refreshing.
Think the only thing I would add is catching fire flies in a Mason jar as the evening sky darkens. A very special card, Jean!

Oh, you really had a lot of nice memories!! I like that you thought to thank your mom. She probably knew you were thankful, because you were a good, happy child instead of fussing and being bad. I like that you made your dad a welcome sign. :>)

I had tears in my eyes reading this Jean. Our childhood holidays sound identical, right down to wishing I had told mum how much we kids appreciated it. Thanks for sharing your memories (and adding to mine). Your card looks great too.

Sound like going to camp!! How fun! It is sad to say but most of us, when we are children, do not appreciate all the wonderful things our parents did for us.
Your card looks like a Ferris Wheel on a pier somewhere. Fun!

You captured those memories beautifully with the pretty, bright colors and all thd fun images. I love the idea of decorating the paper plates and hanging them on trees. And even though you did not tell your mom how wonderful she was, I am positive that she just knew.

This reminds me of a wheel with spokes....could be on a carriage, in a circus, carnival ride, etc. Thanks for the fun memories you had Jean. My parents rented a camp lot every year and we used to do similar things that you did. We'd rent a row boat for $1.00 a day, go out and catch bullfrogs. Then my mom would cook up the legs. Tasted like chicken, as I recall.

I think you did a pretty good job with the paint transfer on the gel plate - I find that very hard to get right. Great memories - and lovely washi tape to pair with your print.

What nice memories. Reminded me of picking wild berries with my grandma in the field across her street. I'll bet your dad loved seeing the decorated paper plates on his way in. Weren't those the days?
