Today I want to show you my project (this time two cards) for the Altenew online workshop "Magical Marker Techniques" by Sara Naumann. This was completely new territory for me, so I had to buy alcohol markers first. Sara Naumann shows different techniques to get familiar with the alcohol markers in a playful way.
I used the following techniques to design the cards:
Alcohol Markers on non-absorbent surfaces like metal:
Instead of metal, I chose an adhesive plastic foil. First I applied the Altenew alcohol markers to the plastic and then I was supposed to spray isopropyl alcohol over it. But as I didn't have any at home, I first sprayed disinfectant spray over it and then tried Blending Solution. Both worked and let the Altenew alcohol markers run into each other.
On white cardstock I stamped the vase from the Altenew set "Versatile Vases" with black Versafine, attached the adhesive, colored plastic foil to it and die cut it.
Background with a stencil:
I affixed the "Beach Towel Stripes" stencil from Altenew on white cardstock with Washi Tapes and followed the single lines with alcohol markers.
Coloring Embellishments:
Whether silver-colored stickers or white beads, so many things can be colored with alcohol markers. I painted white beads with a soft pink hue, which gives them the same color as the flowers.
Background with a Brayer:
On an acrylic block I applied alcohol markers and diluted it with Blending Solution (or Isopropyl alcohol). With a brayer I picked up the paint and rolled it off on white cardstock. This gives a nice structure. Afterwards I wiped more patterns onto the background with the "Sketched Lines" stencil from Altenew and Distress Ink.
Splatters:
I applied an black alcohol marker on an acrylic block and diluted them with Blending Solution (or Isopropyl alcohol). I dipped the hard bristle brush into the paint and then bent the bristles back with my fingers and releasing the bristles I created the splatters.
Coloring on white cardstock:
The basics of coloring were shown: Use a light color to color the flowers completely and accentuate with one or two darker colors of the same color family. The flower motif from the Altenew set "Pen Sketched Flowers" was stamped with black Versafine and dried well. Here I have no experience yet which stamp pads will be removed by the alcohol markers.
Coloring on non-absorbent surfaces like vellum:
Again I chose a plastic adhesive foil instead of the vellum. I stamped the flowers from the Altenew set "Wallpaper Art" with black Versafine on white cardstock and attached the adhesive foil over it. With a light pink alcohol marker I painted the flowers completely and dabbed them with two more pink markers. This resulted in clearly visible structures. Then I die cut the flowers.
The saying "Alles Gute zum Geburtstag" is from the Altenew set "German Label Love", "Always thinking of you" is included in the Altenew set "Pen Sketched Flowers" and the leaves are from the set "Wallpaper Art". I stamped everything with black Versafine and then cut the saying with scissors and die cut the leaves.
Hopefully I inspired you a little bit; that would make me very happy.
Best regards
Gabriele

Your cards are both lovely and I especially like the beach towel stencil background. I also like that your leaves are black...it adds an unusual touch. I am going to try that on one of my cards soon. Thanks for sharing.
WOW WOW WOW. I can not say wow enough times. These are AMAZING cards! You have outdone yourself. I am blown away just by reading the instructions at how much work you have put into these. Incredible work!
Thank you for entering your amazing work to the AECP assignment gallery. Bravo!
