Fascinating and unique gallery today from brentsCards! Lots of inspiration, and Iâm pretty sure Iâll be back with at least one more card, but here is mine for now. I was inspired by this card featuring a patchwork quilt Christmas tree.
I changed it by having the tree with one fewer tier, added a star at the top, and changed the background layout a bit.
I layered a wood print piece of designer paper onto a plain white premade card. I ran a scrap strip of dark red cardstock through a scattered dots embossing folder and attached it near the fold.
I used a 1â square punch to punch squares from various coordinating scraps and laid out a tree design following the example on Brentâs card, cutting some squares in half to get the triangle pieces. It ended up losing a tier to fit on my card. Once I had a design I liked, I attached them all to a scrap of white cardstock and cut out the tree with an Xacto knife. I then ran it through a quilt design embossing folder to add texture.
I cut a small rectangle of dark brown cardstock to provide the bottom of the tree. I donât have a wood grain embossing folder so I improvised â I have a folder of flowers on long stems and used a portion of the stems to emboss lines into the tree trunk piece. I attached it to the card and used foam tape to pop up the tree on the card. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of white card, trimmed, and attached to card with tape runner. Added a star brad at the top of the tree to finish the card. Pretty pleased with the result and I have my first Christmas card for 2020!
Congrats to Brent on being the Featured Stamper! Enjoy your week!

I appreciate you CASEing my card and your kind words. My quilt like cards are still in very early stages of development. My wife and I used to watch Fons and Porter before it changed management. The wood grains are great touch too. Awesome!
