Needed a birthday card for my nephew, who is turning 12 in a few weeks. Wanted to stay CAS, but go a little more graphic than cutesy.
I was inspired by this colorful beauty from Laua Bassen. I love the look of the partial rainbow "pouring down" from the side of the card, as well as the white on black sentiment cutting across the rainbow.
I didn't have the die Laura used, but did have another MFT rainbow die I could use. Since it was rounder, I opted for positioning it across the bottom right corner of my focal panel. I opted for a brighter rainbow and a glittery, rather than matte, rainbow. I also left off the big word die and swapped out her clear round sequins for lots of clear star ones to add to the festive feel of the card.
Trick to inlaying my rainbow:
I first die cut my stitched square (MFT) twice - once from the Bazzill and once from a lightweight white cardstock. I then die cut the Bazzill square using my MFT rainbow die. I could now adhere the two stitched squares together so that I knew my rainbow would fit just right in the opening. From there, it was easy to position and adhere my sparkly rainbow rays.
To assemble card:
Card base
Filler layer
Bazzill layer
Black filler layer
Black mat
Stitched focal square (with filler underneath)
Sentiment strip (with filler underneath)
I finished off the card by dropping a small handful of PPP star sequins and attaching to the focal panel.
I love the bright white, textured shimmer of the Bazzill paired with the sparkly rainbow and the blink. The pops of black pull everything together.
TFL!

Love your sequin stars for the background of your Gorgeous glittery die cut rainbow. The perfect sentiment. I agree, all your black accents pulled your design together. TFS my friend. Hugs..Nancy
