This card was made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge. I wanted something kinda funny... and Stampin' Up!' (SU) "Animal Expedition" Designer Series Paper has such cute animals on it. I fell in love with this smiling sloth, so used my Brother ScanNCut to digitally cut him out of the pattern paper leaving a 0.4" white border around him. I would have stamped him, but the matching stamp set" "Animal Outing" didn't have a stampe for the sloth,,, just the giraffe, kangaroo and rhinoceros (which are all quite as well!).
The circle he's mounted on was cut with SU "Stitched Shapes" dies, then matted with Garden Green cardstock using the oval from the same die set.
I wanted to continue using stitched elements, but don't have a straight line stitched die, so used the versatile Lawn Fawn "Stitched Hillside Borders" die set to cut the horizontal element from SU Mint Macaron cardstock.
The main panel on the front of the card is this gorgeous jungle leaf pattern from SU "Mosaic Mood" specialty paper. The dark leaves in the pattern are a shiny gloss.
The final element was the sentiment. This is from the SU "Birthday Banners" stamp set. I used SU Garden Green ink to stamp the sentiment. Then die cut it out with it's matching die from the SU "Bunch of Banners" set. Since there is not larger die to create a mat for the sentiment piece, I scanned it into my ScanNCut and added a 1/8" (0.12") border around the shape before cutting.
The sloth and the sentiment were mounted using adhesive foam tape. The rest of the card elements were glued using Tombow.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" because without a digital cutting machine the sloth and sentiment pieces would have to be fussy cut. With the digital cutting machine, it's a "2".
This card works for both an adult and child's birthday.
