Carl Sandburg was an author and poet from Illinois, who lived in Milwaukee for a time. His wife, Lillian Steichen, sister of photographer Edward Steichen, lived in Menomonee Falls, WI for a time and the Steichen House is now in our local Old Falls Village. I found a quote of Mr. Sandburg's: Nothing happens unless first a dream. President Lyndon Johnson observed at Sandburg's death in 1967 that 'he was more than the voice of America, more than the poet of its strength and genius. He was America.'
I used one of my gel prints from this week, which used alcohol ink, acrylic paint and a tree stencil. You can see the stencil very faintly. I embossed most everything in Brutus Monroe alabaster white (yesterday's WT), also added a quote by William Blake and the word 'dream.' I was also reminded of the poem Roots and Wings, not sure of the author. I've seen it attributed to a couple of people.

just lovely with your grounded (roots) and wings (feather). That is a gorgeous neutral background just waiting for your greens. Thanks for the interesting bits of history in your write up...I agree you must have dreams to live a life above the ordinary.
