Using alcohol inks is so freeing for me because I AM NOT IN CONTROL (for the most part). I like that about art. I believe in surprises and serendipity and the unexpected.
I stay away from the color challenge because I have a hard time starting from color. Yes, I love color, but I never think of color first. But I want to support the January team, so I need to get over it. I've had my ai out since the weekend and decided 'why not?'
For my background, I tried a technique called alcohol ink linear fade. Put your alcohol inks in the center, let them dry a bit, then put a line of alcohol from the center out and tip the paper, letting the color run into that alcohol. Keep doing that until you have a darker center and faded out lines of lighter color. It's a crap shoot how it turns out, or at least in my case. I used blues and yellows for that; I know it looks orange and green but that's what happens. I worked hard to keep the colors as true as possible. The coffee cup is espresso, latte and black on a felt, pounced on the plastic. Susan (one4joy) sent me the TH snark, which I love, and I thought one of them would work. I'm not naturally snarky (not that clever), but I do laugh at them. Coffee can take away snark or add to it.
Remember: WE ARE NOT IN CONTROL, SNARK WITH COFFEE CAN MAKE ANY DAY BETTER, ART FRIENDS ARE THE BEST, AND GET UNCOMFORTABLE!

BEAUTIFULLY DONE! I LOVED reading your description! I think you did a FABULOUS JOB with the alcohol inks! I tend to not do them because they're messy. BUT when I do play with them, I feel SUCH FREEDOM!!! FUNNY, huh? LOVE your snarky sentiment too! It is always fun to laugh! Your card drew me in the minute I saw it! EXCELLENT JOB!!! ;)<3
