Diane, thank you for bringing us a 'Nutcracker' challenge. What a cherished tradition this time of year.
I had such a blast creating this card.
This star filled ballerina recently chose me from a wonderful Mixed Media Art store on Whidbey Island, WA. She was one of a kind and sitting on the shelf waiting for me! For this card, I stamped her ('Smokey Grey') onto SU 'Soft Sky' cs. I fussy cut her leaving the tiniest of border of the color.
The dark blue panel behind the dancer was a left over from something that didn't work! I had used the embossing enamel on a Van Gogh quote rubbing a Aqua Gelato over the words. Too dark. But perfect for a panel to show that dance form. The L.M. Montgomery quote was stamped directly to the 'Soft Sky' bg and it was embossed with the 'Aged Marine' enamel...that didn't work as planned either due to the mixed font sized, but no harm.
She had a way of embroidering LIFE-----with-----
sTaRs.
My ballerina is happily reaching for the stars.
Thanks for stopping by...keep on reaching, 2!

That image was surely waiting for you! I love the saying......the changing font is delightful, mf. Don't worry over it!

You take my breath away. What book is that a quote from? I can't remember reading that but I've read most of her books. Your cards have such 'presence.' Favd.

I'm faving too! I also want that stamp sentiment. Love it and love what you did with it. Your ballerina looks wonderful! Meant to be for you! Is that the art store now called Frida's in Oak Harbor, by any chance? Used to be called Collage and was a great store!

Another magical sentiment perfectly combined with the ballerina. Nice rescue on the darker panel. I thought that was embossed bricks behind the ballerina.
