One of Toni's options for the current WTUI challenge was the shadowbox frame card, tutorial is found HERE. It's a card I always enjoy making, and since this is going to a work colleague, postage will not be a problem.
I used shimmer/pearlescent card for my front and frame, and the outer mat layer in the frame. I used some blue Bazill and some old SU textured white to create the next layer, embossing the blue with a snowfall ef and adding Stickles.
The country houses were cut from white for the outline, and scraps of old Sizzix paper for backing it (and kraft for the rooves). I added a sweet little Cuttlebug snowman, cut once from card, and then cutting him again in felt and trimming the twiggy arms off. Tiny pearls went on for his buttons and eyes, and I tucked a little rabbit into the scene too. The gold stars (Verve) are cut from one of my tomato paste tubes.
For the front, I cut a second piece slightly smaller, and stuck it to the front with temporary tape, then cut the aperture through both pieces. Then I embossed the front panel and added a scalloped frame, finishing it with Nuvo Drops in white.
The sentiment was stamped on white card and cut with a Spellbinders banner, sponged with blue while still in the die. I added Stickles along the edges, and used foam tape to have the centre popped up. It's finished with a couple of sprigs of holly using a Memory Box die. I think it's the first time I've tied ribbon around the spine, as in the tutorial - I like how it looks.
