I was beyond thrilled to see that Kia (Kiagc) is today's Featured Stamper. I am a HUGE fan of Kia's enormous talent and appreciate her comments too. I so enjoyed going through Kia's gorgeous gallery and I finally settled on this beautiful card: Beautiful Hydrangeas by kiagc at Splitcoaststampers. What I love are the gorgeous red flowers that wrap around the one corner with the foliage and other elements filling the card. I do not have any stamps like this at all, so I decided to use stamps and dies instead.
The roses have a solid layer that I inked up in light pink ink, then again in a darker pink ink. The outline for the roses I inked up in versamark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. Then I took a Prisma hot pink pencil and added some extra details into each petal. The pencil coloring was a bit bold for my liking so I took a blender pencil and softened the edges of the pencil coloring a bit. I fussy cut the roses out and added fun foam to the back of the roses.
I die cut the doodled lace cover die, removed extra pieces and placed it on 6" sook wong tape. Poured silver glitter over the entire piece and rubbed the glitter into the sook wong tape with my finger. It was about this time I found out this week's WT challenge is to go with the grain (for woodgrain). Growing up in Iowa, I saw all kinds of gorgeous flowers blooming against these old weathered buildings, and that is still a thrilling sight for me. So, I chopped the top part of the glitter piece off so I could add some woodgrain to the card- fun!
Die cut the sentiment from silver glitter cardstock, then placed the roses that are popped up on fun foam.
This was a really fun card to make and would never have happened without Kia's gorgeous inspiration card. There are brown tones in Kia's card that tie in with the woodgrain on this card, and I love that.
This card also fits the Alphabet challenge for the letter D for Dazzling. My husband saw this card and immediately said it "razzle, dazzles" so I am going with dazzle. Ha!
Thank you Carla, Judy and Ann for the wonderful challenges and thank you for looking today! ~Karen.

You are the glitter queen, Karen. The glitter under the lace cut looks beautiful. And while I'm not a fan of the clean-up, I think glitter is such fun to use and looks stunning in large areas like this. I like your roses against the weathered wood - it reminds me of the panel on the front of a store in town that was a floral design on boards, and over the years it gradually got more and more weathered till it was gone - but I think I have several photos of it over the years.

WOW! This is so pretty. I just keep going back to look at it! That's a gorgeous cover up die, your flowers are beautiful and I really like the woodgrain background for the sparkly sentiment. It all just fits together.

What a great tribute to Kia, Featured Stamper! Your card is beautiful with all the silver glitter! Gorgeously colored pink roses, too, Karen! What a wonderful creation and love the added woodgrain background at the top!
