I loved these ornaments so much, I decided to make more. I crocheted some lace edging and tiny doilies to put on them. Steps: glue on lace, coat with gesso, paint light blue, coat with watered down black paint, wipe away high spots, add gold highlights, glaze. Of course, between each of the steps, drying time was required. Although it doesn't really show in the photo, one has more of a glossy shine than the other, because I used two different glaze mediums. I actually prefer the one that is less shiny. One thing I learned is to not rub too hard when removing the black. I ended up removing layers all the way to the glass, so had to do a little repair work.
