I made this card for two challenges. The first challenge is this week's Teapot Party. Susie is our hostess and she has chosen a wonderful theme called, "12 Days of Christmas." Fun! This card is going to a very special lady who has made a major move and thus a big life change too.
The top panel was sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress ink. It is actually much more blue in real life. I am not sure why the camera could not capture this. The entire scene is stamping and the cardinals are layered stamping. The female cardinal's scarf is colored with copic makers, then added Gelly Roll white pen dots all over the scarf for some fun polka dots. Each of the greens in the pine branches is sparkly from using a Gelly Roll Clear Star glitter pen. Also added glitter to the heart on the bird house.
This card also fits this week's Alphabet Challenge for the letter C for cardinals and Christmas. I so enjoyed making this card and it is an honor to send this card to a very dear friend's mother. Ann and Susie, thank you for the great challenges this week, and thanks for looking today! ~Karen.

Absolutely adorable sweet Karen! Papa cardinal and baby are so sweet...I would have said mama but female cardinals aren't as brightly colored as males. So unlike humans, where females are so beautiful and bright compared to the males! LOL

So fun to see your card today, Karen! The cardinals are whimsically adorable. Love the details of making a blue sky and echoing that in his/her scarf! This is a wonderful new home and Christmas card!

Karen, these cardinals are the ‘tweetest’! And once Mom see’s this she’s going to say I would like a birdhouse outside my window to attract birds!! Lol. She adores birds!
I love the whimsical design and beauty of your delightful card and so will she!
Thank you for sharing your creation for Mom my friend!!!
Warm hugs!

How adorable is this! I love the design and how you used a stitched die. The sky looks perfect and your coloured cardinals are the sweetest! I read Jeannies comment...you are such enabler dear Karen. Thanks so much for bringing this beauty to the teaparty.

Gosh, it's hard to believe that cardinal dad is just stamped and not layered, he's so dimensional looking, and just adorable. Tumbled Glass is one of my favourite blues.
