OK, I realize this is not a holiday card per se. (That's what happens when you get so involved in the card making that you forget the "rules"!) But I hope it still counts for this challenge I feel it is a wintry thinking of you card, so hopefully that's close enough for jazz. Despite the simple look, it still took me 3 tries to get it right. :P
I cut a piece of copy paper to A2 size for my main mask. I used a trick I saw Jennifer McGuire do to find the center of a circle die. To do that, I die cut another piece of copy paper with the die I'd chosen, folded it in half and in half again, and placed the die back around it. I went ahead & made tick marks on the back of the die where the fold lines were, so I wouldn't have to do this again. I folded my copy paper mask in half cross-wise to find the vertical center, and lined up my die so the tick marks aligned with that fold. Then I die cut the hole from my mask.
I added a thin coat of Tombow Mono Multi glue around the aperture in my mask, and let that dry. Then I lined up the top edge of my mask with the top edge of my white cardstock panel, and stuck down the mask. The first & second times I attempted this card, I inked first through the circle opening with Broken China Distress ink & a blending brush. The third time I stamped first, then ink blended. I'm honestly not sure if it matters which order you do it in, but it did seem to come out better the third time. I did try stamping on the card base itself the second time, but the stamping came out less-than-perfect. So I cut off the front of the card base, and used what had been the back to try again--this time successfully!
I placed the panel in my MISTI, with the mask still in place. I lined up my stamp in the middle, and inked it up with Broken China Distress Oxide ink. I stamped that through the mask. I did have to stamp a few times, to get the lines at the edges of the mask to stamp relatively cleanly.
I placed the positive circle mask inside the negative opening, removed the negative mask, and stamped again with Morning Mist ink. I had to use the Shari Carrol CPR stamping method, again to get the lines along the edge of the mask to stamp. It's not absolutely perfect, but close enough.
I stamped my greeting, from "Handmade Essentials," in Morning Mist in the lower right corner. I added the panel to a white card base, and this card was finally done!
