My counselor's mother died recently, after a long illness. I made this sympathy card to give to her, just to let her know I'm thinking of her.
I knew I wanted to use the "Asian Garden" image from Doodle Pantry (discontinued), but wasn't sure what greeting I wanted to go with it. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the collection, and saw the "Wishing you peace" greeting! My counselor has a large canvas on her outer meeting room wall that says, "Go in peace." So I thought this greeting would be perfect for her.
I sized the image & printed it on a panel of watercolor paper. I used my watercolors to paint it, then die cut it with a circle die. I also die cut a circle from cardstock with the next larger die to mat the image.
I cut 2 more panels from patterned paper, and printed the greeting on the lower right corner of the more solid paper. I cut one end of each panel at an angle. I marked where the bottom of the upper panel would fall on my card base, & adhered a strip of navy cardstock so it would "underlap" that edge, as well as the upper edge of the bottom piece. I adhered both patterned paper panels, glued my focal circle on top, and that finished this card. I haven't seen my counselor since I left it in her inbox, but I'm sure she will like it.
