This is for Polly's fun mixed media challenge to use fibres. I know I have a stash of gorgeous coloured fibres and ribbons.....somewhere! I did scrounge a few strips of spidery white fibre in my flowers stash, so yay...I can join in.
This is a photo copy of a line drawing sketch page in the Happy Hour Art Journal 'Whimsical Girls" A4 sized book by Jane Davenport. I printed onto copy paper, then coloured with Prismacolour pencils, Zest it pencil blend and highlighted with Copics.
I was thrilled to bits to read on the second page of the book that permission is granted to photocopy content for the personal use of the retail purchaser. How cool is that!
I know that SCS has a "be nice" policy, so I won't tell you what I really feel about some of the restrictive "Angel Policies" that several stamp companies have. Sometimes I feel like we need permission to sneeze and stamp at the same time!
After fussy cutting the girls, I searched through my art journal for a suitable background. This pink double page was made using gesso, then various pink acrylic paints and squirted with pink Dylusions ink and spritzed with water. I applied everything to the right hand page and quickly closed the book, applied pressure, then peeled the two pages apart.
You can see where the pages got stuck together near the spine, it tore a bit, but it's no biggie, it just adds texture. I added a washi tape border, some text and dotty stamps. This journal is just for the fun of it and I'm having lots of fun.
Thank you for looking and I hope you have a happy, inky weekend.

Susie, it brightens my day when I see your artwork and AMAZING colouring! This is outstanding with the 3 girls coloured so incredibly and the bg is fabulous! Love the washi tape border and fibre! We’re staying with family in Canberra for start of Test next week so may not get to see the first few days😢

I love reading how you do your art..I'm thinking of doing more journal pages (you can only send so many cards)...those pink pages sounded like great fun to. make. The girls are fabulous and the silky strands on the one girl are so current...there are lots of folks walking around with hair extras. This is stunning and I love it!
I always like reading your descriptions, Susie. It is like we are sitting across from each other having a cuppa. Love how you did her hair. This is awesome. TFS

Sigh, your colouring is always so amazing. The tape measure goes so well with the idea of a fashion shoot. And what a very creative and clever use of fibres.

How bright and cheerful this card is - for this cold and very wintery day. Journal pages - something I am going to try out in a class with Rachel Grieg at our local craft shop in September. Hope I can produce something as good as this. Stay warm and tied down to the ground. We had SNOW here last night! Made for an interesting AFL game here last night - in their singlets and tight shorts! He he he
