I made this card for this week's Ways To Use It Challenge. Toni is our hostess and she has chosen a wonderful theme of "Getting Edgy."
You have to look closely at this card to see that the bottom layer of the front is actually acetate. There is coordinating DSP on the inside of the card that shows through the acetate layer when the card is closed, but I could not get a good photo of this. The front border is die cut, then the flowers are popped up with the centers still attached to the card. Then I did cut the same border from the purple polka dot paper and I carefully snipped all the flower centers to remove the flowers from the DSP. I actually did this 3 times so I could layer up the flowers. This took quite a bit of time to do. Then, I painstakingly added glue to the flowers in strategic areas and applied the purple flowers over the popped up flowers on the card base. There is an outer edge to each flower, then the flower centers pop up. Getting the purple flowers attached to this tiny narrow edge took some concentration, but it was worth it. It is so hard to see all of this in the photo, but you can really see it in real life. Add glue with a 2-way glue pen to the little flowers and sprinkled glitter on top of them for some added sparkle and shine. The gems appear blue in this photo, but they are actually a perfect match to the paper in real life. This was a challenging card for me to make and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I am also entering this card in the Alphabet challenge for the letter V for violet posies.
Thanks for looking today! ~Karen.

This one makes me happy just looking at it! The polka dot paper makes it fun and the little sparkly flowers are sweet. I like that you did halfs on either side. I am quite sure a lot of thought went into this and it shows. Love the big birthday sentiment and the border die edge is really pretty!

All of your efforts paid off beautifully with this cheerful birthday card! I love the wavy border and the purple polka dotted flowers, the little sparkly yellow flowers add to the overall sweetness! And yes, I do see the acetate edge!

Oh, I do see the acetate, but I'm not sure I'd have spotted it if you hadn't mentioned it. I know what you mean about something behind being hard to photograph. I put my blue fabric tape to help the cut border stand out more - and then trying to take a photo was not easy. The purple and gold is a super colour combination, and the bling centres make those detailed flowers look so rich and special.

Oh Karen, this is beautiful! I love that edge, I can see the acetate but probably would have missed it without your comment about it. Such a lovely edge detail and gorgeous purple polka dot posies. I love the gems in the centers and the shine of the smaller flowers. Gorgeous!
