This is for Julie's Teaparty. We were asked to use umbrellas on our cards. I went with this old fashioned looking lady as I know Julie likes vintage style cards. And I thought if you were going through a rough time this would be the woman to come in and make it all better. She'd take over the household so you could relax and everyone could recuperate.
I stamped her jacket from some dp. And for this stamp set it doesn't include a skirt...you're suppose to use other pieces from other sets. So I stamped a "skirt" from another CC set out of plaid. It wasn't quite wide enough so I had to add a pleat on either side...problem solved. I did some stitching around the edge and added a gem on her hat...because heaven knows Mrs. Bumbershoot is a true gem, kind of like Julie ;)

The pleated skirt is fantastic, Polly, it reminds me of some of the ones I used to make with box pleats. And the leg of mutton sleeves - wonderful vintage costume all round. She does look as if she'd step in and keep everything running like clockwork.

I LOVE having become familiar with your work; here - the closures on the skirt and the hat pin - genius.

This is outstanding, Polly- you always do this type of vintage card so well! I am in love with the skirt you've created for her; she makes me think of Mary Poppins!

Oh, how wonderful! This lady reminds me of Mary Poppins - how fun! I love all the paper piecing you did here Polly, and the color scheme is fabulous too. Julie (and Dave) are going to be thrilled with this oh-so creative card you made for them! ~Karen.
