Carla is our hostess this week for the WTUI challenge - which you can find HERE. I had made a sample especially for it, but somehow it's a bit meh, so the two birthday cards I made for late July birthdays both fit the bill and I like them much better.
This one is for a work colleague, who describes her little dog as looking like Marty Feldman, so I reckoned the Crazy Dogs were a good choice. I had a gel printing session yesterday, and this uses a print from that, plus the green from the edge of another print for the grass. I inked the brick wall ef with grey before embossing to create the brick wall. The leaves are an old Spellbinders leaf, embossed and sanded and creased to shape. The sunflower is an old MFT die, cut from Bazzill Bling, and with a layer of Stickles underneath the seed centre. I heat-embossed the sentiment. Actually, I did it on vellum first for an overlay, but when I die-cut it, all the embossing peeled off, so this was plan B. The dog was stamped on watercolour paper and coloured with distress inks (brushed corduroy, vintage photo, peacock feathers, tattered rose and black soot) and fussy cut.

Inking up the brick ef shows off the texture perfectly. Love the Marty Feldman dog with the big sunflower and sun. Thanks for the adorable sample, Sabrina!

Oh wow, is this ever fantastic Sabrina- and oh-so cute too! The expression on this dog's face made me laugh right out loud- ha! Your gel-print bg is stunning and looks like the sun is coming up. The embossed brick and the embossing on the flower leaves adds wonderful texture and dimension. Your work colleague is going to be thrilled with this fun card you made! ~Karen.

so FUN! I do love these crazy dogs. I have used my set a few times and have plans for more, but as crazy as they are, they just bring a smile and a giggle to me and the recipients! What a lot of elements happening on this card and you brought them all together perfectly. even thought of putting the stickles under your seed piece, that was brilliant! have a terrific day

Your flower and sunshiny bg are so pretty and then there's well....the goofy looking dog stuck in the scene. Ha Ha. BTW, I don't like doing techniques, so for me to actually attempt the faux patina was a big deal. For some reason, I have trouble following directions when it comes to card making, so unless it's super easy to understand, I get quite frustrated. So now you know a little more about me~
