I honestly made this card for one of this month's VSN challenges, that required the use of a rock concert-type image. I chose the drum set from "Twelve Days" (what isn't more quintessentially rock-concert???) & the coordinating greeting from "12 Days Companion Greetings." I managed to finish the card in well under an hour, and was feeling pretty proud of myself. Until I remembered that I had to use the color of my birthstone for the challenge, which is amethyst. Is there a speck of amethyst on this card??? No. I did make a second version with the same design and the RIGHT color scheme, but kept this one as well, to send to Foster Kids Charity as an encouragement card for a foster child to look at while he (or she!) waits in court.
After I trimmed the "12" from the center of the bass drum in the stamp, I stamped the image onto a scrap of bristol paper. I used Versafine, since I wanted to color with my Tombow (water-based) markers, and that ink is waterproof. While the ink dried, I stamped my greeting on another strip of bristol paper with Teal Zeal ink. I used an acrylic block that has grid lines on it, and drew light pencil lines on my paper to guide my stamping. I made sure that the "you rock" directly to the right of where the image circle would land showed the complete phrase. After I got that positioned, I just stamped the same greeting repeatedly to cover the strip, making sure to stagger it so I had a more pleasing pattern. Finally, I erased my pencil lines.
I colored my image in bright colors, to go with the patterned papers I'd chosen. After I die cut the image with a circle, I cut my banners from said patterned papers. I used the measurements I'd made on the sketch as a guide for those. I adhered them to a red panel, added my greeting strip & image circle, and mounted the finished panel to a white card base. A pretty quick and easy card to pull together. I think the longest step was just deciding on the patterned papers!
