The current Clean & Simple Challenge, CAS542 - French Bastille Day - 7/15/19, was to create a card with something that reminds you of France.
I am a lavender lover, and when I think of France, I think of hillsides of lavender and lavender being harvested into small bundles and lovingly hung from the rafters to dry. Mmmmmm....the scent of a lavender blossom, gently pressed between my fingers sends me to another, quieter world. Heavenly!
Waiting in my never-before-used stash was this lovely stamp of a galvanized tub filled with blooming lavender. I wanted to keep with a French country feel, so I stamped directly onto a small scale wood plank patterned paper and heat embossed the image with clear detail powder so that it had a bit of shine. The flowers were colored with Zig brush markers, as was the tub.
I decided the image needed a something more to add interest, so I added dimension by adding another galvanized tub on top of the stamped image. To do this I stamped/heat embossed the tub on Smoky slate cardstock with black ink, shaded with grey Zigs and fussy cut the tub with scissors. I popped that over top the stamped image on the wood plank paper and added some shading around the bottom of the tub with Zigs to ground the image.
The thank you sentiment in French was done on PTI Soft Stone and die cut with the new SU Stitched Nested Label dies. I added a hand cut layer behind that in SU Smoky Slate to give it some depth.
For the finish, I tucked some green die cut leaf fronds in back of the sentiment and a wee Linen Thread bow to the lavender.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my stamping tribute to France. Viva la France!
