The Color Challenge team has selected a theme for this month: Christmas in July!
Jeanne is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week. Her colors would have worked wonderfully for a pink poinsettia, and I wish I had gone with that idea. But no! I had to do something completely untraditional with these untraditional Christmas colors.
This week's colors are Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride and Granny Apple Green, and I even incorporated the dessert option of stripes. I decided to pull out this nutcracker image and see what I could do. I found out I have a LOT to learn about colored pencils! This nutcracker is a very manly man in very feminine colors, but he's a feminist and he doesn't mind!
My stamping mojo has been mostly absent this week, so I once again pulled out a set of Blueprints dies. For me, they are a jump-start when I'm looking for layout ideas.
I created my striped background with some makeup brushes and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide ink, which is a pretty close match to Blushing Bride. Die cut my Blueprints elements and added some sequins and the greeting at the bottom.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week.

this is a cute Nutcracker Barbara- I don't think he looks feminine at all- I have a collection of Nutcrackers and one of them is a baker in shades of pink- it's one of my faves- I like the striped background- and now you have a Christmas card completed!

This is an awesome Nutcracker Barbara, I like that he's showing his feminist support by wearing pinks LOL! Your lack of mojo isn't showing here, the layout is wonderful to showcase this great image!

These are some sweet colors that make great non-traditional Christmas colors. Love your sweet nutcracker

Terrific Christmas in July card! Love the nutcracker and how you colored him. The banner card design is wonderful. Love how you created the stripes. Fabulous inspiration for the colors.

Oh, a nutcracker is a great idea for these colors, Barbara! This guy is such a cutie. I really like your combination of the curve edge against the banner edge - they are so striking together!
