This guy card was made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #420 in partnership with the Joy of Sets Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #008.
I chose the Joy of Sets diagonal line that included circle, plaid, and an animal. Sounds like the perfect combination for a masculine card, doesn't it?!?
The specific papers I used for this card can be found in the table below. The one thing I did for this card was attempt to give it a tailored look. To do this all my die cutting was done with "stitched" dies except for the banner. Even the blue matting around the plaid panel is stitched! One thing that was challenging was to created the horizontal panel of green with blue matting so that they would have stitching. I did this by running the two layers of cardstock through my Big Shot at the same time. The Stampin' Up! (SU) "Rectangles Stitched" dies cut so that there is stitched both inside and outside the cut lines. So this allowed me to run the two layers through so that the die did the stitching on both the blue and the green, but only did a solid cut through the green. The bottom blue layer was partially cut, so to reinforce it, I taped on the back to keep the outside and inside blue pieces together. I also trimmed the blue piece to make the margins around the green the width I wanted (since the die doesn't cut there... but I could have used the next size up die to add an outside row of stitching on the blue.
The horizontal panel was glued to the card front, then the top of the banner die cut was glued to the panel. I added mini glue dots to the part of the banner that lays directly on the plaid pattern to give it a little height to match the top of the banner due to the thickness of the horizontal panel.
The moose stamp is from the 1994 SU "Wildlife" set. It is so old that even Splitcoaststampers doesn't list it in their collection of SU stamp sets!!!
I intentionally left this card without a sentiment. I thought it could be used for a masculine birthday, or any other occasion in why you need to send a male friend or relative a card.
I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". The dies make the card pretty easy to build, but some card is needed when cutting out your plaid paper so that edges are symmetrical.
