This card was made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #418 with the optional theme of 'nautical'.
I started by choosing a background paper that I felt had a flowing nautical feeling to it. I decided on the swirling pattern paper from the Stampin' Up! (SU) "Going Places" paper stack. It had great colors I could use for matting, and kinda felt like a map of ocean inlets along a coast.
The circles were created based on the sizes I had of circle dies. I ended up using three different sets of dies to get both the white circles and matting circles sized reasonably well. All the center of the circles were created with SU Whisper White cardstock. All the mats were created using the SU "Stitched Shapes" dies.
I couldn't find a stamp image in my collection of stamp sets that was nautical and the right size, so I downloaded a free anchor vector file that I could size and cut out with my Brother Scan N Cut2 digital cutting machine.
The line across the top behind the sentiment circle was stamped using the SU "Settin' Sail" set (as was the wheel shape in the smallest circle).
The hardest part in making this card was how challenging it was to find nautical shapes the right size! I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5".
The card will work as a masculine birthday card for sure!
