Toni is our hostess for the WTUI challenge this week - I had great fun making this as a sample for her challenge, which you'll be able to find HERE.
I knew I wanted to use this Linus stamp, so I started out by creating a background...painted the card with gesso, then stamped a map background and a grid (masking off the compass rose to keep it more visible). Then I wiped acrylic paints over it. At this point I decided to include the gate and not worry about having the map as a prominent feature, so I die-cut the gate and fitted Linus in beside it. Stamped some grass and stencilled the stars with gold acrylic, then matted it onto gold and black. I found some free clipart for the padlock, which I shrunk down to a suitable size and tied on with twine.
I had a piece of deli paper with a gel print with the same star stencil, so I laid that behind the gate and added the sentiment from Verve. I like that when the gate is closed all you can read is "fear", chiming in with Linus' sentiment. But when it's open, you see the triumph part. I stamped a feather in blue underneath just to fill the space with something.

Fantastic card! I love your background. And the hint of something more behind the gate. Gotta love Linus...his childlike spirit is exactly how we are to live in the world.

The wisdom of Linus - gotta love it! You totally amaze me with everything you put into a card background Sabrina (right down to using deli paper). I love all the stars on this and how fun to put this wonderful sentiment behind this gate. I adore this card! ~Karen.

I really love where your thoughts went with this challenge, mf!! Facing our fears is hard, but oh so necessary! Great card with the fab bg (your bg's are always terrific).
