Toni is our hostess for the WTUI challenge this week - I had great fun making this as a sample for her challenge, which you'll be able to find HERE.
I knew I wanted to use this Linus stamp, so I started out by creating a background...painted the card with gesso, then stamped a map background and a grid (masking off the compass rose to keep it more visible). Then I wiped acrylic paints over it. At this point I decided to include the gate and not worry about having the map as a prominent feature, so I die-cut the gate and fitted Linus in beside it. Stamped some grass and stencilled the stars, then matted it onto gold and black. I found some free clipart for the padlock. I erased the keyhole and replaced it with a question mark, then shrank it down to a suitable size, cut out and tied on with twine.
The open gate can be seen HERE.

Sabrina, I just love your creativity in cards. Fear is so apt for poor Linus as we all know him. Well done with the placement of your sentiment behind the gate to only show the word fear when it is closed, super impressive! Great coloring of the stonework bg, and so creatively genius of you to change the keyhole to a question mark. Fabulous card!

What a truly ingenious card this is Sabrina! This little lock you added to the gate is fantastic, and what great wisdom there is behind this gate too! How fun! ~Karen.

super neat scene, so well articulated! really thoughtful and interesting description of how you went about it. i don't do much with gesso or spreading ink like you did here, but it is a wonderful technique and really brought the card to life! such an artist, you are, and inspiring to us all. Teresa thanks for the sweet comment on my graduation 'puppy' card. : ) just a whimsical card i appreciated you taking time to post. ;)
