I combined this week's sketch challenge from Diane (DCinkit) with this month's Crafters of Faith challenge fromLiz (lazylizard.)
Liz chose the scripture verses 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 which speaks of being pressed but not crushed...struck down but not destroyed. Awesome verses! She then encouraged us to use the faux pressed flower technique. I decided to use that technique on the smaller panel of Diane's sketch. The spot for the large sentiment in her sketch was perfect for this stamp which worked with the theme. When you feel you are being pressed/crushed/struck down...kneel in prayer.
Finally, today is the first day of our new local Mayor's term of office. He has been interim mayor since his predecessor moved in November. We have recently had a string of violent crimes which is distressing. In addition to increasing police patrols in the city, the Mayor issued a proclamation last night after his swearing in, declaring today as a day of prayer and fasting. I can't physically kneel, but you better believe I will be praying!

Fabulous sample for the sketch and as an entry for the COF Challenge, too. The technique turned out great. I like how the petals hang off the edge. Beautiful colors! Awesome inspiration for the sentiment. It certainly goes along with the verse Liz had selected. Prayer is the best line of defense. Congratulations to the new mayor. Love your card!

Love your pretty pressed flowers. I am using my phone as I guess our flooding situation has interrupted my internet service.

Your new mayor sounds like a great leader. I hope that he has a lot of success in turning things around. This card is beautiful! Your pressed flower technique came out fantastic and that sure is the perfect sentiment for both the COF challenge and the sketch!

Beautiful Kim! Love how you have some of your flowers hanging off the edge of the panel and that's such a perfect sentiment for your card and May's theme verse.
