Chris is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us three bright and cheerful colors: Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, and Granny Apple Green. The dessert option is "stripes." This option can be interpreted in several ways, and I hope the colorful strips on my card qualify as stripes. (I vote yes!)
The inspiration for this card comes from Kandie aka Kemernow. I was so taken with this card that, as hostess last week, I chose it as my favorite. Kandie did a great job creating her background with alcohol inks! I have wanted to do something like this for a while, but I've never had the right combination of inks to meet the Color Challenge until this week.
So I CASE'd Kandie's card, but I changed so much that really, all I did was use her idea of alcohol ink strips behind a silhouette. The ink colors flowed and combined according to their own wishes. Where the pink and yellow combined, I got a beautiful orange color. While the ink was still a little wet, I pressed some gold Deco Foil onto it in random spots. I did catch a little of the gold in the photo behind the center stem. The dark blotches you see elsewhere in the photo are other shiny gold touches. I'm thinking my card got a little busy with the three stems, but it is a happy/busy card, so I'm good with it!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

How pretty it is! I like the color combo as well as the bands used in the background. I like those flowers too, they seem to fly in the wind. Good Job!

this is a great background technique and to use it as stripes is a creative idea and produced such a lovely card. I don't think the card is busy at all. Awesome work

A very happy card! I love your unique take on stripes...the color blends are gorgeous and the flecks of gold add elegance. I have the wildflower dies but have yet to use them...thanks for the inspiration.

Your alcohol ink stripes are exactly what the challenge calls for, Barbara! I love how they blended together and your gold foil is such a perfect accent on this beauty.
