For today's F4A, I'm remembering two men named Bob. The Bob on the top right is my Dad, Army. The Bob on the bottom left is my surrogate Dad, Navy. My Dad, Bob M., died almost 29 years ago; my other Dad, Bob O., died April 20.
The photo in the middle is of a painting, done by my Dad, of a WWII memorial that the two Bobs, along with a few other Amvet friends, designed and built with their own hands. In the mid 2000's, Bob O. led the way to refurbish the monument, which had fallen into disrepair, including replacing the bronze sculpture on the top, which had been stolen. Bob O. was the last Amvet who actually had worked on this monument; he was four days short of his 98th birthday.
My Dad went on to become an artist and designer; Bob O. worked for the post office, finally becoming Post Master of our village. Two honorable men who I am proud to have loved.
On May 9, Bob O. will receive posthumously the Patriot award that our village gives out every year. He knew he was going to get this award, was thrilled about it and I and my family will be at the award dinner to applaud him and probably cry a bit for both Bobs.
Memorial Day is about remembering all who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Do something that weekend to honor them.

Oh, I'm so sorry about your second dad, I didn't realise that he had died a couple of weeks back. Thanks for including the picture of the memorial. Inline the nods towards their professions.

An artful way to honor both your Bob's. I know your Dad would be so proud of the artful way you've lived your life, through music and a collage of significant bits' and bobs'!
