Snietje has challenged us to make a card based on a recipe. My card doesn't actually have anything to do with ham, although it is a favorite meal of mine. My best and favorite recipe is one that we found in a Good Housekeeping magazine years ago. Chinese Fried Walnuts. They are amazing. I make them every year for Christmas and I have so many people addicted to them. So, in honor of my Chinese Fried Walnuts recipe, I went with the Year of the Pig and used this fun flying pig digi. I also used the Kanji SU set. Although I'm not really sure if it is a Chinese character. I'll ask my friend Yingming. Anyway, I had one of my aunt's cards out and it just made the best DP for this card (it says "Happy Birthday" under the pig). The brown is also part of an old card and it has really pretty gold patterns on it.

I love it - when pigs fly! I would say this pig really looks like he/she is loving flying! The gold-embossed Chinese sentiment looks so elegant here and this paisley dp is really gorgeous too. This card made me smile from ear-to-ear and I know it will make JoAnn smile too. ~Karen.

Fun and clever, cute too. And the Chinese love pork . One of the girls in work has just headed to China for a few days (she used to live there) and their pork dishes are what she was most looking forward to eating. Great recycling of those old cards!

What a fun card, Jen. Your take on the challenge is awesome. I usually keep track of the animal for the Chinese new year, but had not registered this year was the year of the pig! I love the little clouds around him!

Now, I have to say you really though outside of the box on this one Jen. And it paid off! I could only think of dessert recipes for some reason. i think Anita's examples just made me focus on desserts. And, these Chinese Fried Walnuts have me intrigued. I've got to look those up too while I'm looking up Polly's grandmother's frosting recipe. Mmmmmmmmm
