This card was made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #406 with the optional theme of watercolor.(https://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/)
I had made several beautiful background panels using the "Ink, Spray & Smash" technique (Ink, Spray & Smash Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers) earlier this week. I especially liked the way this panel looked soft like a watercolored piece. The re-inkers I used were from Stampin' Up! (SU): Flirty Flamingo, Tranquil Tide, and Pool Party. Each time you use this technique the panels all turn out completely different... even the two that you smash together!
I trimmed the panel to 3-7/8"x 5-1/8", then matted it with a panel of Tranquil Tide that was just an 1/8" wider and taller. I then wrapped the scrap piece of polyester ribbon around the back of the matted piece, and attached it to the front of the card using Scor-Tape. Glue dots leave lumps, and liquid glue often soaks through to the front of the ribbon, so I chose the tape instead.
The Tranquil tide scallop was created by die cutting a scalloped oval, then cutting it in half lengthwise with my trimmer. It was attached just under the ribbon using Tombow glue.
The floral bouquet was created using the SU "Beautiful Bouquet" stamp set with SU Flirty Flamingo, Tangerine Tango, and Tranquil Tide inks. I don't have the matching die set, so used my Brother ScanNCut2 to cut out the flowers and stems. The center of the orange flowers I highlighted with a generous drop of Glossy Accents liquid. I used a paper piercing tool to put small holes in the center of each of the blue-green blossoms in the flower clusters. Before building up the bouquet onto a small rectangle of white card stock, I used a rounded tipped scoring tool to cup each flower on top of a mouse pad. The bouquet was then built piece-by-piece with glue dots and adhesive foam strips. This mounted bouquet piece was then glued to the card front.
This card would be appropriate for just about any occasion for a female friend or relative. If you want to stamp a greeting in the upper right of the card front, I would recommend you do so with Stazon due to the glossy finish.
Both the technique and bouquet building were very simple, but you do have to wait between steps for the watercolor background to fully dry, and the glossy flower centers to dry before you can complete the card. For this reason, I am rating the difficulty level as a "2" out of a possible "5".
