When I was a child, unless you knew a farmer or had a garden, it wasn't easy to find fresh asparagus. Canned veggies was the thing. When my Mom served canned asparagus, she always put it in a personal sauce dish instead of a large dish, because she knew we wouldn't eat it unless it was right there. Canned asparagus is disgusting: mushy, faded green color, stringy, ick. I can't wait for the first farmer's market when I know that bundles of fresh asparagus will be available. You still have to know how to cook it correctly but so much better!!! Even though there is no asparagus in this photo, it made me think of a favorite PSX stamp: https://www.countrydoor.com/p/set-of...tables&start=1
I found the quote online. After I completed the card, I looked up the poet. Oh my, what a terrible life she lived and she certainly did some terrible things. I suggest not looking her up. But I guess she left a legacy with her poetry. Very sad.
PS as you can see, I had trouble with the stencil at the top...it kept moving! Much tape didn't help. Adds to the rusticity, right?

Your stenciled background looks great! If you hadn’t said anything I never would have noticed! Love your saying!
Funny we had fresh asparagus last night!
Very pretty card!

Wonderful stalks of asparagus and your stencil looks great. I would not have known it slid if you had not said it. Won't find any asparagus at my house....hubby wouldn't touch it.

This is awesome, love the colors, but that sentiment is FABULOUS!!! I also love the stenciling on the border. Faved (even though I'm late for last week, I'm including in this week!)

Love the spicy play of color, the not perfect stencil play, and the interesting play of words! Yes, the play of the day is certainly your card! The thick ‘rubber band’ is a realistic touch. This is definitely a fun card. I will abide your warning on the quoter. You’ve given me food for thought. That’ll hold me over till lunch. Wink.
