Anna is this week's MIXed media hostess and her challenge is all about tulips, daffodils and pansies.
My first thought was my lovely brushtroke daffodil from Penny Black, but I wasn't sure how to make it into mixed media, so instead I pulled out an old Flourishes set.
Started out by more or less following the Paint Swiping tutorial, except that I didn't leave any white space. I used pansy colours, and then added some bokeh circles with pigment ink. Stamped all round the edge with Vintage Vogue in Pine Needles.
The image was stamped on white card and coloured with Polychromos pencils (Stickles in the flower centres). I sponged it, and added some stamping with Gorgeous Grunge. It's layered onto a piece from my scrap box - card embossed, coated with gesso, Brushos sprinkled over and then spritzed. It was originally intended for an underwater scene but wasn't suitable. I used it for the leaves, too - cutting the veins from the offcut of the main background panel. The tag has sponged edges, and I added a little twine bow. I stamped the edges of the base with the same Vintage Vogue stamp - it looked good and more clean without but I think it frames it a little better with the added stamping.

delicious!!!!! i love pansies, they work well here when we're all anxious to have pots of flowers but the recommendation is not until Memorial Day (end of May). We can't wait that long so a pot of pansies is the thing to have.

Oh Sabrina, what a gorgeous card. I love your background and the colours you have chosen but it's your pansies that really pop, you have coloured them perfectly.
