The current Clean & Simple Challenge, CAS524 - We Got The Beat - 3/11/19, was to create a card with a musical theme.
I found the perfect stamp/die set in my stash for this challenge, and it was one that I’ve had for a year and not used...today it got used. Yeah! The stamps I used are from a My Monthly Hero Kit from Feb 2018 called Spoken Bird. The stamp set is filled with lots of Silhouette style birds, little leaves, butterflies and, hallelujah, some sweet music notes. Just what I was needing! And amazingly enough, there was also a tiny die to go with the music notes. So fun to find this set in my stash right when I needed it for a challenge!
For this project, I used some of my favorite watercolor paper from Spectrum Noir, called Spectrum Aqua. It’s a really bright white watercolor paper, 100 on the brightness scale (as white as you can get!!!). I used the same paper for the tag and the cardbase, mainly because of the texture of the paper.
To color the tag I used a Hero Arts water Reactive Ombré pad called Spring Day. I sponged the blue Inks onto the WC paper, spritzed with water pretty heavy and moved the ink with a hair dryer (didn’t want to toast my paper with the heat gun). I topped that with green ink from the Ombré pad, sponged it on and spritzed a bit less and let it dry.
The images and sentiments were stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink, an intense black ink that is my new favorite for everything that doesnt involve alcohol ink.
I popped the tag up on the card with fun foam underneath to give it nice lift, and finished off with a sprinkling of Simon Says Stamps Moonshine sequins.
The little music note die cuts were adhered with rolled glue dots.
This was a delightful card to make, with lots of surprises along the way. It ended up being quite different from my original design, but Im pleased with the final result. It will be delivered next week to a special friend who will be celebrating her birthday.
Thanks so much for fluttering by and looking at my Spoken Bird Musical Birthday card. Blessings to you!
