For this Teapot Tickle we were asked to make a card featuring our favourite story book or characters.
My favourite childhood book was Heidi - but Snuggle Pot and Cuddle Pie came in a close second. There was also another book that I loved - I think it was an Enid Blyton book called "The Magic Faraway Tree". Not sure if that was the right name - as it was read to us each afternoon when I was at school - when we were supposed to be having a rest (or more like peace and quiet for the teacher). She never finished it - and I was so upset that I didn't get to the end of the story. Anyway - one day I will find it in a bookshop and get to read it all the way through - in my second childhood - he he.
Anyway I didn't have any stamps or anything that I could use to recreate Heidi - so I got out my Gumnut stamps.
I made a water coloured background and embossed it with a Paper Rose embossing folder. I then stamped the Gumnut babies, fussy cut them out. Die cut some gum leaves and coloured them in and added sparkle for the flowers. The frame is die cut and the little scene completed. In real life the little Gumnuts are not quiet as pale as they look here - they have a bit more of a suntan and rosy cheeks.
As a result of Snuggle Pot and Cuddle Pie - I still cannot walk past a banksia tree with out looking to see if I can see "the big Bad Banksia Man".
Hope you enjoy.

Snugglepot and Cuddlepie are just adorable, Helen, beautifully coloured, and I love the EF behind. I have yet to ink up my stamp. I think this is a favourite of all of us Aussies - I'm yet to get to Gumnut Cottage for a visit. Heidi was my favourite book, too. You also mentioned Enid Blyton's "The Magic Faraway Tree", this was the first of 4 books we had in the series - don't know if there were more. I read these to my boys each night before they went to bed, my eldest particularly fond of these books!

Helen I was so hoping you would bring a gorgeous colourful gum nut baby creation to the a Teaparty. A lucky teapotter is in for a huge treat. This is magic my friend. Oh and I'm laughing about you and Banksia trees. Xx

Helen get cookies!!! I have never heard or seen anything like this for a fairy tale. I will have to go to the library and see about it. You did a beautiful job on the coloring and stamps. I love their eyes - so cute!! Thank you for playing in this month's Tickle Challenge!

Well now, there's a book I've never heard of. It must be Australian, with those little eucalyptus caps that they are wearing. Love the leaves, too. We had a big eucalyptus tree in the garden where I grew up (the only tree that my brother and I couldn't climb) and I loved the scent from it. Not so much stepping on those little caps in my bare feet. What a fun card, and so nice to have something that's uniquely Australian.
I do vaguely remember that Enid Blyton book. I'm not sure that we had it, but I've certainly heard my DH and one of his brothers talk about it.

Don't know those characters but you sure made a fun card with them. Those eyes are just mesmerizing! I'm not familiar with that other book either but what kind of a teacher doesn't finish reading it to the kids..that's so unfair! I hope you find it some day.

Your Card is precious and even though I never heard of this story, I was into Heidi as well. Read it over and over but never saw her when I went to Switzerland! I cannot believe a teacher never finishing a story! That is crazy!

Have never heard or seen them before but in for the haul of learning so must be an Aussie thing for sure and am going to look into it. Those eyes are so alluring just look and you go to their eyes like could hypnotize you! Neat background as well as the layers---would love it if they came to visit me but stay here. Super sweet card.

I've never heard of these little sweeties, but what an intriguing card. It has my imagination running with ideas and stories for these little creatures! Beautiful card!
