Another snow day here with 2 more to come and tomorrow expected to drop to -50 windchill! Good days to stay inside and craft. I saw the beautiful color combo that Karen chose and my mind went to a red barn (that's what happens when you live in rural Indiana!) I used the faux wood technique using direct to paper swipes of my Crumb Cake then Cherry Cobbler ink pads. I used a sponge to add some white on. I wanted a little more texture so I grabbed an oldie, my Distressed Texturz plate. I then added some more ink to try to pick up this texture (would have worked better if I had put the ink side face down) I then took my aqua brush and wet the ink in vertical lines. I also used my Crumb Cake marker to add some plank lines and nails. Once this was done I set out to make my succulent. I diecut in Old Olive but it was a bit too bright. I swiped my Old Olive pad on a piece of acetate and used my water brush to add water. I dripped a couple drops of white refill ink and swirled. I then dipped my succulent pieces in this mix. I used my brush to swipe up some red from my sheet that was protecting my desk when I made the wood piece and added red to the edges of the leaves. I swirled a bit of this onto my acetate and dunked a bit more. I also used some direct to paper white ink onto these. I also added so of this to my Olive framing. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Crumb Cake and used my punch to notch the ends (I'm a bit rusty so these aren't perfect). I sponged this piece as well as my Crumb Cake base with Crumb Cake ink. It needed just a bit more something so I went for dessert adding my lace behind the sentiment.
This is for a gal at the Recovery home where I volunteer who is about to graduate from the 9 month program!

Your background is fabulous! All your work paid off with amazing visual texture, complimented with the lace layer under the sentiment. Love your layered succulent, the pink on the ends make it so realistic!
