I made this card to send to Christina Brashears, who is collecting cards for children in grades K-5 who were affected by the Camp Fire in California last year. She wants encouraging interactive cards, which will be distributed to about 1200 kids. I learned about this on Jennifer McGuire's blog.
For my fish bowl pattern, I downloaded this image from Pixabay. I sized it in Photoshop, and drew an ellipse for the inside cut line. I also selected, copied, & pasted the lower curve for the outer top portion from the original image, and added that line to my ellipse to get the top curve for the inner line right. I printed that onto the back of a piece of pale blue cardstock, and cut out the inside portion with a craft knife. I used scissors to cut along the outer line. To add a bit of dimension, I inked around the outer edge with Stormy Sky Distress ink.
I traced the inside of my fish bowl onto a piece of green patterned paper from my scrap stash, that I'd cut to 5.25x4". I cut out along that line with my craft knife to make an opening for my shaker. Before adding my acetate to the back of my panel, I taped it to a piece of A2-size cream cardstock that I'd cut for my card front. I then adhered the inner green piece that I'd cut out to the cream panel, to create a seamless look to my background.
I stamped a lot of fish on bristol paper scraps, and colored them with my Tombow markers. I die cut them with the coordinating dies. I cut a piece of clear plastic from some packaging for the back of my shaker. I ran some of my fish through my Xyron Sticker Maker to apply adhesive to the front of them, and stuck them to the back of my acetate that I had used for the front of my shaker. I used liquid glue to glue more fish to the front of my plastic packaging piece. After I added 2 layers of foam tape to the back side of my card front, I added my sequins & beads, and then adhered the plastic packaging panel to the foam tape to close up my shaker. I got the tip of adding plastic/acetate to the back from Nina-Marie Trapani. It helps the shaker bits move more freely, and makes it easier to line up the back of the shaker, since you can see where you're adhering it.
I adhered my shaker to the card front panel, lining it up so the green I'd adhered to the panel shows through the fish bowl. I stamped my greeting, also from "Fintastic Friends," onto a scrap of vellum, cut it into a banner, applied adhesive with my Xyron Sticker Maker, and adhered it to my shaker window. Finally, I adhered my card front to a white card base.

First of all, Andrea, what a wonderful idea to make a card for one of the many children that were affected by the Camp Fire in California last year. And what a fabulous card that will be LOVED! It's amazing how you've used the template for the fishbowl and added the darling little fishies (that's what the kids will call them). And the shaker card...well, that's the best part! What a special and loving card you've made, sweet friend. You are so loving to do this. Hugs and love to you!! xoxo
