The photos were succulent gardens, so when I saw the sketch with the large half-circle on the right, I knew right away I wanted to try making a 3D succulent card. I don't have the 2017 Stampin' Up! (SU) "Succulents Framelits Dies". I looked online for digital cut files in SVG format. I found a wonderful Cricut designer named Jennifer Maker whose blog features succulent cut files (https://jennifermaker.com/felt-succulents-easy/). They are for felt, but I used it with SU Mint Macaron cardstock and it worked beautifully on my ScanNCut2!
The technique for coloring the succulents is super easy! You can find Susan Levasseur's YouTube tutorial at:
Susan used the SU Gorgeous Grunge dotted stamp with SU Whisper White ink to "spot" both sides of all the succulent leaves, then SU Crumb Cake ink to sponge central streaks on each leaf getting lighter as you reach the tip of each leaf. Finally, she used white again to lighted all the pointed ends of the leaves.
I created both a 5" size plant which I cut each leaf layer in half before assembling, and a 3" version which you see in the foreground of my photograph. They look so REAL!!! To make the cutting in half easy, I cut the first full layer exactly in half, then placed each subsequent layer on top the first with the leafs offset, marked lightly on the place on the layer where I wanted it cut, and sliced on my paper trimmer. Remember to offset each layer for the most realistic look!
The base of my card is SU Garden Green, the main panel is a dark wood pattern paper from SU "Wood Textures" 6" DSP stack.
The sentiment "With Love & Sympathy" is from the SU "Itty Bitty Greetings", which was stamped on SU Mint Macaron cardstock with SU Early Espresso ink. I used the SU "Bunch of Banners" Framelits Dies to cut the banner twice (since each run through the machine cuts both an inside banner and an outside banner". One time through was to cut the sentiment, and the second time through was on a scrap piece of SU Garden Green cardstock to form the mat. I taped the two together on the back with Scotch tape, then attached the assembled piece to the main panel using SU Snail Adhesive runner.
I think this turned out to be a somber, but elegant sympathy card. I am rating the difficulty level as a "3" out of a possible "5" if you have the succulent dies, or are an experienced digital cutting machine crafter.

This is absolutely stunning! Great job with the succulent on the card and the second one in front. Beautiful colors with the added wood base on the card.
