I am in need of more Valentines so both these challenges worked in my favor ;) It's hard to see the text on this but my background layer is from a book, then painted with gesso. The girl is colored with watercolors and copics (for the face). I added that little PTI bird and notes cuz I thought she needed to be looking at something (and since I couldn't use a heart a singing bird is the next best thing). I outlined the bg and doily with gold, sponged around the edge of the panel and that's it!

I like the peeks of text through your orchid doily and the subtle look of it with the gesso overlay. The gold edgings add just a bit of elegance to this sweet card.

Love each and every element on this wonderful card, Polly! The doily and text/gessoed bg with the gold edging looks so lovely and I do love your sweet image, so beautifully coloured!
