Pat is hosting this weeks Teaparty for Walt, who recently had a knee replacement. Walt is the lovely husband of our very own sweet Cheryl aka CherylQuilts.
Walt is a very big fellow standing 6"6"tall, so that indicates a lot of leg and a very large knee...ouch!
I have two cards, one of my sweet DD sis Cheryl practicing her nursing skills on a rather frightened looking bear. The other card is a reminder that Walt will sweep Cheryl off her feet when he is fully recovered, unless Cheryl kills him first - oh that came out loud.
Both of these are digi images by LOTV. I have the cute couple as a rubber stamp, but it is very small. The beauty of digi stamping is making them what ever size you like.
Since the tax rules changed in the UK, LOVT no longer sell their digi images on their website, however the good news is that they have an Etsy store and sell heaps more digi's than they ever did before. They are not cheap, but they still represent great value for money especially when you factor in international shipping.
Both images are printed onto copy paper, then coloured with Prismacolour Pencils, Zest it pencil blend and highlighted with Copics. Before fussy cutting the images, I very, very gently swiped a walnut stain distress ink foam blending tool over them to take away the "just coloured" look. I just use the residue ink that is on the foam. It helps if you shut your eyes.
I find colouring on copy paper far more forgiving than on cardstock, also fussy cutting is a breeze. Nurse Cheryl and the bear are only joined by the spoon and the happy couple are connected by Walt's cap. This would have been near impossible for me to do on cardstock.
The tree in the background is a Lavinia stamp, it isn't all that tall, so I flipped it upside down and lined it up with the initial stamping - MISTI is perfect for this sort of thing. I stamped the upside down trunk on to some acetate first to line it up properly, before doing the second stamping on the card. Even holding the card in my hands I cannot see where the stamped join is.
I used a couple of DOX inks on the couples card - the orange (fossilized amber, I know it looks orange in real life too) is supposed to look like a setting sun. I can't say I love the DOX inks, but I wanted this card to have a soft dreamy look, and they are perfect for that.
Thank you for looking and I hope you get a chance to get inky and send some sunshine to Walt.

Just love these two cards. Yes I agree - one card for Cheryl and one for Walt. Me too. Love that dotty tree and of course I also have the upside down tree trunk too after seeing what you have previously done with them. Love your comment about Cheryl killing Walt with kindness - he he. Stay cool Susie.

I hope Walt is less nervous of Cheryl than that poor bear is of his student nurse! These are beautifully done Susie, stunning colouring and with your trademark liquid pearls too!

Susie - these will bring smiles, laughter and hopefully healing. They are great cards and I totally agree about LOTV images. I use more of their digis than their stamps, even though I do have a few. Note to me - at least one has never been stamped as it is so small to colour - must get it done!
