This weeks Clean & Simple Challenge, CAS517 - Its COLD! - 01/21/2019, was to use the letters in the word COLD as design elements in a card. Fun challenge and one that had me thinking outside of the box!
The design elements on this doggie card that correspond to the letters in the word COLD are:
C - cattails in the die cut
O - Off-White colored cardstock
L - Labrador die cut, and love theme as indicated by the hearts and sentiment
D - dog; dissected die cut to extend it
This card was fun to design but was a fussy Challenge to get glued in place once all the pieces were die cut. The original cattail diecut was not long enough and the grasses didn't allow room for my Lab to fit in the design. I had to snip the cattail swamp apart, piece in another partial diecut that had shorter grass and tuck the Lab in place to cover the splice job. I had so many parts and piece of tiny diecuts that I resorted to using a Jen McQuire tip - a piece of Saran Press n Seal gently placed on top of the elements kept them in place while I lifted and added glue to the backside. It was a nerve wracking process, but it turned out to be less of a mess than gluing each piece, one at a time.
One fun detail on this card that is kind of hard to see in the photo is the subtle Buffalo Check stamped background on the red panel. I used Versamark watermark ink instead of a colored ink so that it wouldn't overpower the delicate diecuts on top.
Thanks for coming by and looking at my Lab doggie card!

This is so cute. I like how you used white for the silhouette.
