The Ways to Use It Challenge this week (WT723 - I Hereby Resolve - 1/17/19), was to make a card based on your cardmaking hopes and goals for the year. In essence, we were asked to share our New Yearâs cardmaking resolutions.
This challenge inspired me to put onto paper two of my cardmaking resolutions. The first one is to make cards using items in my stash that I have never used before. I have a ton of new items and they have been begging to be used!
The second resolution is to make a decent amount of Christmas cards before winter ends so that I have a nice supply of cards that are ready to use when next Christmas rolls around. This past year I spent January doing just that and it really was a stress reducer.
This card fulfills both of my resolutions. It will be added to my Christmas card stash for next year and I was able to incorporate 2 new-but-never-used items. I found this cute pickup truck ribbon at Hobby Lobby last fall and intended to use it on packages...forgot all about it until I was putting away Christmas stuff and decided to use it on a card.
The other new-never-used item is the Woodgrain paper border that I used for background paper. The product is only 1 1/2â wide, which I thought was really cool when I bought it and discovered later it makes it darn awkward to use!!!! I lined up two strips of the border side by side and hid where they connected with the ribbon.
This was a fun challenge to participate in and I especially appreciate that it inspired me to really think about what I would like to accomplish in my cardmaking this year. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my first completed project for this cardmaking resolution challenge!

That ribbon is just so sweet! It's just perfect for a fun card. And the woodgrain paper and treeline are a lovely pairing. January is a good time to get well ahead. I try to work through the year, but July and August are always a real uphill struggle.

This is a charming Christmas card. Love the ribbon with the pick-up trucks carrying trees(I can see why you would have bought it)and your die cut forest is a great backdrop. Love the little heart too. : )

So cute. Love the ribbon and I like how you put it on the inside, too. The wood grain paper and die-cut trees are fabulous. Your card fits the January SCS Fan Club theme of Winter Woods. TFS

I have a goal of 10 Christmas cards a month. Both my MIL and my mom asked me for Christmas cards for the end of the year so I had to up the number I needed. This is a super cute card with your stash. Good luck in your goal this year, you are off to a great start with this gorgeous card.
