I made this card for this week's Featured Stamper who is Lori (aka ArtzadoniStudio). I took one look at this card of Lori's and I knew I had to make some red blooms today: DTGD18ravengirl Popping Off A Poppy by ArtzadoniStudio at Splitcoaststampers. It is obvious Lori is very talented at mixed media which is a huge challenge for me so I decided to do a loose watercolor technique and consider it my version of mixed media. I heat embossed the flowers and leaves and did a lot of masking in between all the heat embossing. I let this piece cool a bit, then I sprinkled the red and green color burst powders very carefully into the flower petals and the leaves. Using a mini mister filled with water, I sprayed this piece from high up to lessen the force of the water hitting the paper in the hopes the color with stay within the lines. Well, the color bled out, but I do like the end result so I am ok with it. I set the piece aside to dry for awhile, then assembled my card. I showed this card to my husband to see what he thought of it and he liked my "garden" card so I am also entering this card in the letter G alphabet challenge for Garden. Lori, you have a beautiful gallery and I was truly inspired by your creativity. Thanks for the great inspiration today too! ~Karen.

Gorgeous card, Karen! I love your loose watercolor effect on your beautiful blooms. The black mat is perfect for framing it and that white embossed sentiment the perfect finishing touch. Gorgeous!

Your card is lovely and stayed within those embossed 'bounds' in an artistic way! You have encouraged me to dry the Brushos again...with your tip of holding the mister higher. I thank you for that.

Oh, Karen, is this ever Gorgeous! I love the fact that some of the color bled....nature is not always perfect....I really like how on the outside of your blooms the color is more of a pink shade. Beautiful and quite stunning, my friend!

I think that sometimes a "loose" technique is more difficult to carry off than a controlled one. More difficult to do it as well as you've done it here, anyway. You've made me add this to the list of techniques I want to try. I'll be happy if I can do it half as well. Great work!
